Next week I am heading off to the Tri Association Annual Educator’s Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica. As well as schmoozing and sharing best practices, I will be delivering a presentation entitled All Teachers Are Language Teachers. The presentation is intended to convince educators, in whatever discipline they teach, to ensure they are including language learning in their lessons. And I know that most teachers include content-specific vocabulary in their lessons. But, there are other language areas (idioms, academic phrases, question styles) that need to be addressed and we can’t simply assume anymore that some other teacher is dealing with it.
If you are at the conference, please stop by and check out the presentation. If you can’t make it, here is a link to my presentation.

I also made this document of the links and resources used in the presentation if you just want to cut to the chase and start making some changes to your curriculum.

In addition, here is a link to the Tri Association’s website. You can learn more about the organization and their fun/learning-packed conferences. Perhaps this information will inspire you (or your admin!) to include this conference in your future plans!
